JEC PROMOTES SPORTS DEVELOPMENT AT MANSOMAN SHS

Jackson Educational Complex (JEC) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) donated a cheque of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 5,000.00) to Mansoman Senior High School (SHS) in the Amansie West District towards the development of the school’s football pitch. The donation was aimed at promoting sports activities in the school. Established in 1973, Mansoman SHS has over the years shared football fields belonging to other schools within the community, a situation which has adversely affected its performance in sports competitions. It was against this background that the school made an appeal to JEC when it recently held a free career guidance seminar for students of Mansoman SHS.

Touched by the plight of the school, authorities of JEC last week donated the amount to enable the school develop its own sports field to ward off competition from the community folks. Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, Principal of Jackson College of Education (JCE), teacher education department of JEC, who presented the cheque said the donation was in line with the college’s corporate social responsibilities. She said contemporary education should not focus only on academics but also on sports to unearth hidden talents in students, adding that holistic development of students was vital to their future.

The Principal, therefore, appealed to other public-spirited individuals and corporate bodies to invest in the provision of sports facilities in various second cycle schools across the country. Mr. Andrews Kofi Sarkodie, Headmaster of the school who received the cheque expressed gratitude to JEC for the support which, he noted, would translate into good performances in the inter-schools and colleges competitions. He stated that the school is one of the most deprived in the country and called on other philanthropists to come to their aid.
